Greetings ~

Flag etiquette is very important to me. I have a flag pole in our front yard and the flag is displayed on it 24-hours a day, 7-days a week, 365-days a year. It is lighted at night and flies in any kind of weather.

When I was in the U.S. Army back in the very early 1970s, and I began to get a little homesick, etc., all I had to do is look out of my window into the company area and see the flag waving in the breeze and I felt a lot better.

The flag has always had a deep feeling to me. That's why when I see what is happening to our country, by our own government, I get very upset. But the flag stands for liberty, justice and our nation's history. The flag flew at all battles between the United States and our enemies. It flew on battleships, on the battlefields of Gettysburg and many, many others. I feel it's only fitting for it to fly in front of my home.

When I see protesters burning the flag, I then understand just how stupid some people are. They have no idea at all what the flag stands for. It's simply a piece of clothe to them. How sad. But this is what our schools are teaching our kids today.

The United States flag code was created for people to understand the display and care of the American flag. I thought it was about time that I made a blog for it. Without the flag at our helm, this country is just a mound of soil. The flag gives us the respect of others when they see it.
